Tonight your child will bring home a "Gold Folder." Gold folders will come home every Friday. In this folder you'll find: a behavior report for a parent to sign, our Ladybug Newsletter (starting next week), important fliers from the school and other organizations, and your child's classwork from the week.
Please look through these items carefully, and sign and return the behavior report every Monday. It is part of your child's homework to get the behavior report (or other necessary papers) signed every weekend.
If your child takes a quiz on Friday, please don't look for these grades until the following week so I have time to grade them. All tests are taken online this year, so you will not see tests coming home in your child's folder. More information will be coming on how to check child's grades online through PowerSchool. Anyone who has older students may already have access to this online tool.
Starting tonight, students will have daily homework. Homework will come home nightly in the homework folder and is due the next morning. Please refer to the homework grading policy in the parent flipbook.
We will have our first quiz next week! You will find study guides in your child's homework folder tonight to study his/her Social Studies and Math.
Friday 8/24: Civics Quiz
Your child is bringing home many important papers in his/her gold folder tonight that need to be signed and completed. Please sign and return the packet of papers ASAP!
All 3rd Grade students will participate in an Egg Drop Challenge next Tuesday, June 5th!
Planning will begin today in their assigned teams and students will be responsible for bringing in supplies to create their design. (Scissors, glue, tape, and paper will be provided to each team.) Nothing may be created at home - the entire design process must occur at school in order to have a fair competition.
Students are encouraged to think creatively and use recycled materials available to them. This activity should not require parents to go shopping.
We will be BUILDING ON FRIDAY! So students need to searchtheir recycling bins, garage, craft closets, etc. and bring in theirbuilding supplies on Friday.
Today we used Pharrell Williams's "Happy" music video to prepare for our Reading SOL. We practiced questions such as these:
- What reference resource would you use to find a synonym of "happy"? (Thesaurus)
- What's the author's purpose of this song? (Entertainment and Persuade)
- What suffix could you add to "truth" to make it mean "full of truth"? (Truthful)
Ask your child what they learned today!
